THE IMPASSIBLE WALL
LESSON 6
When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He took care of the problem of man's POSITION IN ADAM.
The Bible says we are all born IN ADAM, and because of that, we are dead to God. We are told in I Corinthians, "For as IN ADAM all die, even so IN CHRIST shall all be made alive"
When a person puts his faith in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, the Holy Spirit does four things for him immediately:
1. REGENERATES: makes the person alive to God by activating his human spirit.
Ephesians 2:1, "And you has He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins."
2. INDWELLS: comes to live inside the Christian in order to teach him and also to produce the character of Christ in the believer who is in fellowship with the Lord.
Colossians 1:27, "Christ in you, the hope of glory"
3. BAPTIZES: identifies the believer with Jesus Christ
Romans 6:3,4, "Know ye not that so many of us that were baptized into Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore, we are buried with Him by baptism into death, so just as He was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life."
In those verses, the Apostle Paul says to the Christian, "Don't you understand that you are now identified with Christ and you have died to the sin nature? You are now able to walk in a way which is pleasing to God."
As Christians we are in two places at once! As far as God is concerned, we are already in heaven, but we are still in a physical body on this earth. Now we must make a choice to be under the control of our Old Sin Nature or to be in fellowship with the Lord by confessing our known sins to Him. When we do that we are teachable, and we no longer have to be under the control of our Old Sin Nature.
4. SEALS: the moment we are born-again, we belong to God forever!
I John 5:11-13 makes this very clear: "And this is the record, that God has given to us Eternal Life, and this life is in His Son. He that has the Son of God has life, and he that has not the Son of God has not life. These things have I written unto you who believer in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have Eternal Life."
We must understand what the Holy Spirit has done for us so we may have confidence to live our lives to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ!
